THEME: Submit your original artwork to “Reimagining La Linea”, a juried exhibition about migration. Migration has been a vital force in the shaping our country, and the San Diego/Tijuana region clearly exemplifies this: a diverse community alive with layered cultures, languages, and traditions from all around the globe. The border wall or “La Linea,” intended as an impenetrable boundary, also reveals itself as porous, with the highest number of lawful daily crossings of any other US port of entry. We invite artists to submit work that bears witness to the human condition at the border as well as to the journeys and dreams carried across it. Though we are closest to the US/Mexico border, we welcome work that touches upon issues related to migration in other parts of the world. We also challenge artists to imagine an alternative future where boundaries are more fluid sites of connection rather than division. Let’s paint a world built on bridges, not barriers. |
