SAN DIEGO, CA – Departing from reality, abstract art greets the viewer with countless meanings and sensations. Thumbprint Gallery’s exhibition “LOST IN TRANSLATION: An Abstract Art Show,” at BASIC on May 15, displays the work of a group of artists who convey the world through distinct abstract representations.
This exhibit will display the recent work of artist Dirke Gordon Johnson, born Laguna Beach, CA. In the 1990’s Johnson emerged as a serious painter, exhibiting in the Denver and Aspen area, and getting a first place in the Glenwood Springs art show two years in a row. His vibrant mixed media artwork reconstructs the urban organization of living space and city environments and analyses various rhythms we encounter in life, based on different types of energy, from the expansion of our universe to the biorhythms of the human body.
