Event Description Antonio Adriano Puleo: In and In-Between - Antonio Adriano Puleo’s current body of work investigates what the artist calls “the space in and in-between” artworks. Puleo responds to physical and historical space through a choreography of color, material, and pattern. His formally charged collages, paintings, and objects are informed by the history of collage, specifically “THE CUT OUTS” of Henri Matisse, and the surrealist inspired collages of Robert Motherwell from the 1940’s and 50’s. Puleo references Matisse’s late practice, using gouache to create monochromatic color fields on watercolor paper, which are then cut into and layered. Kraig Cavanaugh: Aesthetic Engineering - Local artist/art critic Kraig Cavanaugh will present a thoughtful assortment of his most recent sculptures and wall works, as well as a few artworks by well known artists that inspire him, in the Athenaeums Rotunda Gallery.

Event Description Join glass artist and sculptress Cherrie LaPorte in a two-day art class. You’ll make glass mosaics on two surfboards each designed by James Hubbell and executed in Cherrie’s signature mediums of blown and stained glass. Using two surfboards as your "canvas," you'll team up with seven other students to make two mosaic surfboards — each designed by James Hubbell. This is a great way to learn about color, design, and technique. All levels welcome. The finished designs will be auctioned off at a fundraiser to support Ilan-Lael's next Pacific Rim Park in Yantai, China happening this summer. Call us directly for more information and to register.
