Event Description

The whole set-up for this exhibition is the coming election on November 4th. Reed has been working for four years painting portraits in his inimitable style for this coming election day. He is politically astute and opinioned. The Art Academy is one of two polling sites in central San Diego. The perimeter of the gallery – on November 4th the polling place – will be populated by paintings of the 43 Presidents of the United States of America. With what is expected to be a large electoral turn-out there should be many people executing their democratic right to vote. He has focused on producing this body of paintings so that the voter, casting their selection on Election Tuesday, will be surrounded by images of the selections made by equivalent people over the history of this country. I hope that those casting their votes will have added cause to think about how each of our votes matters and counts.
