Moveable Masterpieces: Making Art with Soft Materials August 11 - 15 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Grades K-2 & 3-5 Create fun and flexible art objects such as puppets and art you can wear by sculpting with soft materials like fabric, paper, and more during this week-long, half-day Summer Camp. Two camps are offered, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for either grades K-2, or 3-5. Designed for elementary school students, week long, half-day Summer Camps are led by artist instructors and include art activities that explore a variety of media and trips to the Museum to view summer exhibitions. Combine 2 half-day camps to create a full-day program.

Build It, Shape It, Sculpt It!: Exploring 3-D Art Forms August 11 - 15 | 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Grades K-2 & 3-5 Bend, twist, shape, and build with a variety of sculpture materials such as clay, wood, and wire to create unique 3-D art forms during this week-long, half-day Summer Camp. Two camps are offered, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for either grades K-2, or 3-5. Designed for elementary school students, week long, half-day Summer Camps are led by artist instructors and include art activities that explore a variety of media and trips to the Museum to view summer exhibitions. Event Description

Grab a picnic, a blanket, and a few friends and come enjoy this film beneath the stars! Audrey Hepburn stars in this romantic comedy that follows Princess Ann as she travels throughout Europe. Frustrated with the tightly scheduled and regimented life of a royal, Hepburn's character escapes in order to experience life as a commoner. This film is shown in conjunction with the exhibitions "Spanish Sojourns: Robert Henri and the Spirit of Spain" and "Sorolla and America" which both explore the idea of experiencing and understanding another culture. (1953, This film is not rated, 118 minutes) This film is presented as part of Film in the Garden, the Museum's Monday night sundown film series in the May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden. The restaurant in the Sculpture Court will be open for all film screenings and will offer light snacks and beverages, including a full bar.

Event Description

This class introduces students to basic drawing and painting skills. The first half of the session focuses on drawing fundamentals that prepare students to transition into painting. Using a still life students learn drawing techniques such as, perspective, negative space, and measuring values. You will learn how to compose and begin a painting, mix colors, use brushes, handle paint, understand terpenoid, color scales and charts.
