Event Description |
Reception September 13, 1 - 3
Award winning artist, Cathy Carey is an Contemporary Expressive Colorist. “I paint what it feels like, not what it looks like. My paintings are songs of color. One of my influences is Monet, from time I spent painting in his gardens in Giverny. I also feel a great affinity to the style of Van Gogh, and researched his style and motivations. My biggest influence artistically is Matisse, specifically the way he used color to describe both atmospheric perspective and pattern.”
This art show is a retrospective of Cathy Carey’s style from 2000 to her current paintings. She will give a short talk at the September 13 reception at 2pm on her influences and how she evolved her current style. |
