What makes a great portrait? For Kazuaki Uehara, it is “capturing the inner quality of the subject”. Painting fidgeting children taught him to quickly capture his impression and reproduce their essence successfully. He will demonstrate this oil portraiture technique during the September demo meeting of the Ramona Art Guild at 7 P.M. Wednesday the 17th. Mr. Uehara entertaining style will surely delight all attending.
Kazuaki Uehara came from Ishigaki, Okinawa,Japan and worked as a tappan chef here in the U.S. for twenty seven years before turning to portrait painting as a career.
From an early age, Mr. Uehara starting sketching the human face. This lead to a position as a portrait artist at Disneyland as he continued to take workshops to hone his talent.
