Friday, October 31, 7:00pm - 10:00pm Art After Dark : Freakshow Sideshow Nonmember $20.00 OMA Member $10.00 Come one, come many, come all to a very special engagement of Art After Dark at Oceanside Museum of Art on Halloween Night: Freakshow Sideshow. Inspired by Freakshow and Circus culture of the 1930’s and 1940’s, Art After Dark: Freakshow Sideshow will be a visual arts spectacle where guests are encouraged to celebrate their unique differences while participating in a modern interpretation of the American Sideshow. This one-night-only thematic event is curated to educate, engage, and entertain museum patrons, tastemakers, and art entertainment enthusiasts within San Diego County and Southern California communities. Art After Dark: Freakshow Sideshow will feature a variety of music, live art and art exhibitions, interactive art, circus and sideshow arts performances, theatrical presentations, dancing, Coney Island inspired food sampling, wine and beer tasting, thematic décor, and more! Freakshow Sideshow presents the amazing DJ Zochi providing fantastical contemporary beats while artists Kay Lim, CJ Troxel, and Jason Wimer create their art live in-person. Sideshow-inspired video art exhibitionist Raymond Lafferty will appear in the museum galleries along with a pop-up art exhibition featuring illustrator Nick McPherson and Larry Caveney, and sideshow poster art-inspired self -portraits created by artists Krista Wrista and Katinka. Enjoy circus and sideshow arts performances featuring John Highkin of Fern Street Circus, a taxidermy demo by Captain Tyler, theatrical vignettes inspired by the Hilton sisters of vaudeville and sideshow fame created and performed by Oceanside Theatre Company, and original dance performances by Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Oceanside. Join the fun at the thematic interactive art bar hosted by artists of New Village Arts Foundry in Carlsbad or Beauty 101’s “Come Freak Out Your Hair” temporary hair coloring booth. See what your future holds with Tarot card reader Victoria Bearden, along with much, much more! Guests will also enjoy thematic décor and a photo booth designed by Jenna Carlson of Lucky Little Mustardseed, complimentary light appetizer tastings from Bull Taco and Breakfast Club Diner California, and beverages from Arcana Brewing Company, Stone Brewing Co., O’Neill Honey Company, CUBA Herbal Energy Juice, and California Fruit Wine, all supported with Tap That Services. Admission to Art After Dark is $10 for OMA members, $20 for non-members. Ticket purchase includes art, music, performances, complimentary tastes and refreshments.
