Event Description Our seminars in contemporary art are back! Join us every Tuesday between October 28 and November 18 from 5 PM - 6 PM to take a close look at the major movements that have defined the art of our time. These four seminar courses are led by Chief Curator Kathryn Kanjo, Associate Curator Jill Dawsey, Assistant Curator Elizabeth Rooklidge, and the David C. Copley Director and CEO Hugh Davies. Event Description In this class you will explore different types of silk, dyes, and silk painting techniques. You will learn everything about prepping your silk, salt technique, alcohol technique, resists, steaming, stamping, stenciling, and freeing the creative you through the magic of silk. You also learn how to mount your finished work and you leave with scarves, paintings and even sculpted silk projects. (Some materials are included in this course.)

Event Description The La Jolla Art Association,8100 Paseo del Ocaso #B, La Jolla, announces Quartet, a two week showing by four artists; two painters and two photographers, November 18 through November 30, including a reception Sunday, November 23, 5pm-7pm. Catherine Macdonald is a New York artist who moved to San Diego eight years ago. She has exhibited and won awards at the Heckscher Museum of Art Huntington, LI, Islip Museum of Art, Islip, NY, Nassau Museum of Art, Manhasset, NY, Jacob K. Javitz Center, NYC, Lincoln Center, NYC, Gallery Intérieur, Zurich Switzerland. Locally Catherine has had Invitation exhibits at Fallbrook International Print Exhibition, Front Porch Gallery, Jazzercize Corporation Headquarters, Carlsbad, Lagoon Foundation, Carlsbad and participated in public art installation, La Jolla. Event Description Marianela de la Hoz Marianela de la Hoz was born in Mexico City and has lived in San Diego County for the last 10 years. She has shown around the world, including in Heaven and Earth, the Determined Freedom of an Undetermined Life, her 2012 solo exhibition here. Featured left, her detailed painting technique is informed by Surrealism and focuses on representational art.
