Event Description http://www.yourimage.jpg The Lemon Grove History Mural will receive a 2014 Governor's Historic Preservation Award on Nov. 20 in the Stanley Mosk Library of the State Capitol in a ceremony that will recognize 11 projects chosen from hundreds statewide. The mural is a signature project of the Lemon Grove Historical Society and was painted by Kathleen Strzelecki and Janne LaValle as a gift of public art to the City of Lemon Grove. Eight years in the making (2005-2013), the epic five-panel mural depicts civic history from the Kumeyaay to modern times. The mural can be seen at 3308 Main Street on the Pacific Street wall of the historic 1912 general store (Grove Pastry Shop). Project Director Helen Ofield and the LGHS board are "over the moon."
