Event Description |
The general public will have the opportunity to personally own some of the most iconic pieces of James Hubbell’s work that was once a part of the former Triton restaurant in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
A live, online auction of these saved pieces will be hosted at www.IlanLael.org, from midnight on Friday, Nov. 28, until 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 (perfect for gift-giving season!). The money raised from this auction will go directly toward funding the building of a brand new public space at Hubbell’s Santa Ysabel home property.
Earlier this year, the new owners and developers of the restaurant space, Steve Goldberg, Phil Berkovitz and Steve Blumkin, were so moved by the works that their team worked with Hubbell and his foundation to safely remove, store and save dozens of pieces of his work, which were also some of the very first examples of public art from the beloved artist. The works have been at the Hubbell Studios being cleaned, repaired and readied for sale. |
