Event Description |
Meyer Fine Art, one of San Diego’s most prestigious fine art galleries, presents an exhibition of influential Latin American artists, modern/contemporary, featuring original etchings, lithographs and drawings, 1960s to present. We have chosen a selection of works on paper from many well-known Latin masters, while introducing other lesser-known contemporary Latin artists; Matta, Cuevas, De Szyszlo, Lam, Toledo, Javier, Nierman, Solari, Romero, etc., from 7 countries: including Mexico, Cuba, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Costa Rica.
Latin art reflects its culture, the rich and complex cultural heritage of its people. Latin artists often expressed their social consciousness and passion about political and personal struggles, through their art. Latin art has influenced some of the most prolific artistic movements such as Surrealism, Cubism and graphic art. Mexican muralists, like their WPA peers, forged a renaissance in the Latin art scene advocating for more artistic freedom.
