Event Description Join us for Art San Diego’s afterparty and enjoy an evening of art, food, drinks, and entertainment at San Diego Art Institute. Artists Lana Z. Caplan, Tiffany Carbonneau & Brian Harper, and Shannon Willis will have video work on site that responds to their outdoor installations at Art San Diego, and audiences can view SDAI’s current exhibition “Women’s Work: Masculinity and Gender in Contemporary Fiber Art”. DJs Ana A. Brown and La Bucky will pump the crowd up before noted rock band L.A. Witch performs at 9:30pm. A complimentary shuttle will drive visitors between Art San Diego and San Diego Art Institute starting at 6:45pm.

Event Description Chelsea Knight, artist Chelsea Knight was born in Vermont and lives and works in New York. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College and her M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Knight completed residencies at the Whitney Independent Study Program (2010) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2008), and was a Fulbright Fellow in Italy (2007). Solo exhibitions, performances and screenings include: The New Museum (NYC), The St. Louis Art Museum; The Brooklyn Museum; Aspect Ratio Gallery (Chicago); Momenta Art (Brooklyn); DiverseWorks (Houston, with Mark Tribe); Night Gallery (LA, with Elise Rasmussen) and Julius Caesar Gallery (Chicago). Knight has exhibited and screened her work in group shows at the New Museum (NYC), Palais de Tokyo (Paris); Bard CCS Hessel Museum (NY); the Young Artists' Biennial (Bucharest), Werkschauhalle Gallery (Leipzig); and the Michelangelo Pistoletto Foundation, (Biella, Italy). Knight was a Spring 2015 Research and Development Artist in Residence at the New Museum (NYC).

Event Description Anyone need some basic survival sewing skill. No matter what you need to know how to put a button back, patch, hem and why not quilt?? This course will teach you the Basic Sewing Class and if you want to pursue you can go beyond and make a tote bag, customize your own clothes and be a fashionist (n.1. An obsequious follower of the modes and fashions. Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary.) The class will be 1.5 hours, on Mondays at 12:00pm to 1:30pm, starting in October, 05th. Event Description Join us for the public opening of "TRADITION MODERNS Native American Women Artists in California," which makes visible social and political understandings of Indian Country through the visual work of 5 women artists from tribal communities who live and work in California and whose work has a direct link to their long and vibrant past. FRIDAY NIGHT LIBERTY is our favorite night of the month!! Free admission and complimentary refreshments at the Women's Museum and many locations around Liberty Station. Easy parking, lovely strolling through the park--like atmosphere to many galleries, shops, museums and restaurants. Music and art shows outside and in. This month we also welcome back our Museum Artist Community to line the outside corridors of the Museum with artisan jewelry and crafty designs.
