3 Week Mini Session! Discover the creative and technical versatility of acrylic painting. This course emphasizes experimentation using Golden acrylic paints combined with mixed media techniques. Learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting and explore combining collage and painting on canvas or wood panels. We’ll dive into digital media; gel transfers and explore acrylic encaustic. This class covers it all – color, texture, collage, surface design and composition! A thorough discovery of the process of acrylic painting and the use of materials. Personal direction is emphasized, be prepared to paint because that’s what this class is all about. All skill levels welcome.

Event Description Our seminar in contemporary art is back! This seminar-style course led by Deputy Director, Art and Programs, Kathryn Kanjo; Associate Curator, Jill Dawsey; Assistant Curator, Anthony Graham; and Education Curator, Cris Scorza will take a close look at 40 contemporary artists whose work has emerged or become prominent in the last decade. From artists changing our perspectives on medium, to artists with close ties to our region and beyond, each week you will learn more about those shaping the art world today. Event Description Yoshishige Yoshida, also known as Kijû Yoshida, is a renowned Japanese director and screenwriter best known for directing the Japanese New Wave radical trilogy that includes the classic Eros + Massacre (1969). In addition to directing many films, he has written criticism and is the author of Ozu’s Anti-Cinema (1998). Mariko Okada is a renowned Japanese actress who has appeared in many films including Ozu’s Late Autumn (1960) and Aoyama’s My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me? (2005).
