"After the Fact: Photographing People, Places, Things" Thursday, November 19th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm Free event David Wing will talk about why he photographs, and what he learns by photographing. He will show a wide range of his other pictures to show some of the sources for his current Sparks Gallery exhibition. Beverages and appetizers at 6:30pm Talk will begin at 6:45pm followed by Q&A at 7:30pm Parking is most available at the Park It On Market structure at 614 Market (and 7th) for $1 per hour or at Horton Plaza: 3 hours free with Horton Plaza kiosk validation before 9pm (10-15 minute walk to the gallery).

Event Description

Lasse Lau, artist and filmmaker Artist and filmmaker Lasse Lau is based in New York and Copenhagen. He studied at the Whitney ISP and Funen Academy of Fine Art. Lau is the co-founder of the Danish artist group "CUDI - Center for Urban Culture, Dialogue and Information" which considers issues such as Suburbia, displacement and xenophobia. His work has been exhibited at the Hamburger Bahnhof and Wolfsburg Kunstverein in Germany, Aarhus Art Museum and Brandts Klaedefabrik in Denmark, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Croatia, The Turin Biennial of Contemporary Art in Italy, the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore, Smack Mellon Gallery and PS1 Contemporary Art Center in New York.

Event Description

Exhibit November 19 - December 9, 2015. This exhibition includes close to a hundred artworks in drawing, design, digital media, printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics, fashion and sculpture, produced by students enrolled in Studio Art classes and the Fashion Department. All aspects of the exhibition were designed and executed by the Museum Studies class under the direction of Professors Cindy Zimmerman and Alessandra Moctezuma. Art, jewelry, ceramics and fashion items will be for sale in the Gallery Courtyard during the reception. Don’t miss this special opportunity to purchase original creations.
