The San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) presents The Gearheads series every third Thursday of the month at our Horton Plaza Project Space. Join Jeff Kaiser for an event centered around Max/MSP on May 19 at 7pm.
The Gearheads series invites local musicians, videographers, and programmers to demonstrate their expertise and customized equipment. Artists will discuss the different technology and hardware they utilize, complete with How- and Why-To’s. Special attention will be given to Open-Source software and DIY gear so that tinkerers can implement ideas affordably. Aspiring artists can learn about new tools and repurpose tools already in their belt. Each discussion will be accompanied by a performance by the featured artist.
The Gearheads series will take place at San Diego Art Institute’s Horton Plaza Project Space, 324 Horton Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101 at 7pm every third Thursday of the month.
Visual and performing arts converge at MCASD Downtown’s new after-hours offering: Downtown at Sundown. On the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 8 PM, enjoy free Museum admission, exhibition tours, music by The Roots Factory Art Collective, free entry at SDSU Downtown Gallery, drink specials at Stone Brewing Company and The Flight Path Wine Bar & Bistro, The Book Truck, a food truck, and more!
On the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 PM, visitors receive FREE admission to both Museum locations, plus free themed Gallery Guide-led tours beginning at 5:30 PM.
Please note that MCASD La Jolla will be closed during this Free Third Thursday.
Feeling a little creatively dried up, bored or stuck? This ongoing class is perfect for you! Through guided meditations, art-journaling, and customized assignments you’ll discover/enliven your process and art. You’ll also receive technical feedback (composition, color, etc.) from Crystal Daigle, intuitive artist and coach. Attending each month is recommended. Feel free to come once to try it out! No art experience needed. Bring a piece of art or an idea with you for feedback.
Instructor: Crystal Daigle has successfully raised $6,000.00 in her first crowd funding campaign and sold 20 original pieces at her Open Studio Sale in 2015. New to San Diego, Crystal has 30 years of experience as a professional artist and is excited to help you on your way to a rewarding career.
