Event Description Please note: This class is generally 4 sessions. Because of the holidays, this offering is for 3 classes only. This series of classes focuses on the design and application of transparent watercolor. Learn how to paint a watercolor in a fresh and fluid way. Good planning, big brushes, plenty of paint, and a no-fear attitude will be the focus of this inspiring and confidence-building workshop. Learn how to select your subject and get the most out of it through strong design, value and color control, and a variety of application techniques. Demos, individual help, and plenty of time to paint.

Event Description Alexander Arshansky will perform a live painting demonstration on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 6:30pm. Visitors to the gallery will be able to talk with the artist and ask questions about his technique and style and his current exhibition "Stories Within" on display at Sparks Gallery through December 30, 2016. About the Artist: Alexander Arshansky is a Russian-born artist and a recent transplant to the West Coast who works in a style he has deemed “Biomorphic Cubism”. This style could be best described as a combination of Biomorphic Abstraction, with Cubist style compositions, along with two-dimensional inner details. Alexander Arshansky Arshansky is a self-taught artist with a scientific and technical background. His artwork tells stories through hidden and overt symbolism among intricate patterns and color spaces. There is a story within a story, revealed only to those who spend time to observe. The exhibit is an exciting and masterful collection of class projects in various media. Selected artworks reflect the array of talent found in our college. This exhibition includes close to a hundred artworks in drawing, design, digital media, printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics, fashion and sculpture, produced by students enrolled in Studio Art classes and the Fashion Department. All aspects of the exhibition were designed and executed by the Museum Studies class under the direction of Professor Moctezuma.

Event Description This is a call to artists who are members of Oceanside Museum of Art’s (OMA) Artist Alliance for the exhibition, Artist Alliance at the Museum 2017. Become a member of OMA to submit to this opportunity! Artists are invited to submit entries for consideration in this juried art exhibition that will take place at OMA. Artwork will be on view in the Gleason Gallery, one of OMA’s large ground floor spaces. Artists may submit original two-dimensional or three-dimensional work. Artwork may be up to 84” in any direction. All media are welcome. Prints must be signed limited editions. Three artists will be chosen from the exhibition as juror’s choices and receive solo exhibitions at OMA’s opening in November 2017.
