Event Description |
The exhibition of works on paper and paintings dives deep into the pool of talented and influential Latin artists from the late 1970s to the present. It includes the work of Matta, Cuevas, Solari,
De Szyszlo, Lam, Zuniga, Toledo, Nierman, Romero, etc., from seven countries: including Mexico, Cuba, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Costa Rica.
The artwork of most of the Latin artists depicts a symbolic reality, whether through vibrant combinations of colors or muted tones. The senses are challenged with multi-faceted compositions of textural shapes, distorted figures; the abstraction of the human form and animal counterparts depict and transcend a society highly structured by class inequality and repressive political environments.
Latin art reflects the rich and complex cultural heritage of its people. It symbolically tells a story,
challenging the senses while socially engaging the audience.
