Event Description Escondido, CA August 2016- The Escondido Arts Partnership is pleased to announce the eighth Presentation of WOOD, A Furniture Show VIII, hosted by Brian Murphy of Murphy's Fine Woodworking. This exhibition will feature a gathering of some of the very best furniture makers in Southern California showing their work at the Escondido Municipal Gallery. A variety of wood mediums will be exhibited throughout the month. This exhibition is presented in association with the San Diego Fine Woodworking Association. The exhibition runs January 13 - February 4, 2017. The opening reception on Saturday, January 14th provides an opportunity for the public to meet the featured woodworking artists from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. The show will feature pieces of amazing handcrafted furniture including contemporary, traditional, art furniture, as well as veneering and marquetry. Event Description Distinction Gallery and ArtHatch are excited to announce our Sixth Annual Art-A-Thon, a marathon of artistic creation to benefit the non-profit art center’s teen program. 25 local and ArtHatch teen program artists from San Diego County will join together to create artwork for 24 straight hours. Completed artworks will be auctioned off starting at $50. Artworks will also have a “buy now” retail price. Proceeds from art sales will be divided between the artists and ArtHatch to help support the centers free art education program for local teens. The opening reception for the exhibition with the artists in attendance, will be held the weekend after the event on Saturday, January 14th from 6-10 pm with beer compliments of Stone Brewery, wine compliments of BK Cellars, treats compliments of Jimbo’s… Naturally, and live music. Artists who are able to create for the full 24 hours will receive a $25 gift certificate donated by Artist & Craftsman Supply or BLICK Art Materials.

Event Description The ancient process of marbling goods has been used by many cultures over time and each culture has a slightly different production process. In this class we will use modern techniques to marble paper and cotton fabrics. By dropping thinned paints on a cellulose bath and lightly agitating them with different tools, patterns and designs will emerge that can be transferred to paper or fabric, creating a unique image every time. The results are colorful, unique, and extremely detailed. After this class, you will be able to marble almost anything at home!

We will have vinyl to be cut to size and some some acrylic paint. Please bring brushes, cutting tools, paints that you can use and/or share with others.
