Event Description Explore double book structures and forms, where two books can be bound together in a variety of ways, and with a variety of techniques. The tête- bêche, or “head to toe” binding, incorporates two texts that share a spine with no back cover but two front covers, instead. The dos-à-dos binding (“back to back”) and the French door binding (“side by side”) both share the back cover board, but in very different ways. These structures provide many options for the binder and book artist, and allow two texts to relate to each other in a variety of ways. In this two day class, we will complete three books: an accordion style tête-bêche binding, the dos-à-dos binding sewn with a link stitch, and the French door structure sewn on tapes. Along the way, we will discuss how each structure can be used to enhance or contrast texts, and how the structure of the book can change the way the texts relate to each other. Prior binding experience is helpful, but not necessary for this class.

Event Description Let us help you bring out your inner "Faerie" Let your imagination soar on magical wings! If you're going to the wonderful "Faeries in the Garden" Event to be held July 1st at the beautiful Cuyamaca Water Conservation Gardens. This is the perfect opportunity to prepare your ensemble, or for any other gathering that encourages you to wear your wings on the outside! We're helping to host the event and wanted to give all of our faerie friends the opportunity to show up looking they're faerie best! We'll be using old dresses or gowns as a base so bring a thrift store dress find or something you have in your closet. I suggest choosing something that is comfortable to wear. I'll help you cut, sew embellish, color and all around TRANSFORM that dress into a gown any Faerie Queen would covet! Bring any inspiration pieces you have, flowers, butterflies, birds, feathers, battery operated light are a great addition too! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-making-of-the-dresses-tickets-35391
