Event Description Duke welcomes adults of all skill levels to take his upcoming Exploring Surrealism & Abstraction workshop. Dada/Surrealism created the basis for the movement into abstract expressionism of the 40's to the 70's. Exploring the subconscious memes of thoughts and dreams that can inspire. In abstract art, the intention is not to reproduce particular image, but rather to express an emotion, project a mood or make a statement. The result, therefore, is, as the name suggests, abstract rather than concrete. Through the method of surrealism and abstract the students will gain an appreciation for the purposes and techniques of abstract art and begin to explore ways to express themselves in the abstract art movement.

Event Description Distinction Gallery is pleased to present: Ross Jaylo “Fall to Rise” Opening reception: Saturday, September 9, from 6-10pm. Distinction Gallery is proud to present oil paintings by Ross Jaylo. We will also have live music, ArtHatch open studios, BK Cellars wine, and Stone Brewery beer. Ross Jaylo, a New York based Filipino Painter and Multi-Media Artist, renders onto canvas his conception of an ideal love. A symbolic and passionate visualization of love that transcends beyond social norms and breaks the illusion that love must heed society's expectation of belief, social status, age, creed, race, gender and stereotypes. Love in its purest form. ArtHatch is a 7,000 square foot building which houses Distinction Gallery: exhibitions changing monthly, multiple exhibition spaces featuring work by represented artists, "The Alley" featuring over 20 local artists, 14 artist studios, ranging in size from 150 to 800 square feet, featuring local artists and the ArtHatch Teens.

Event Description Joseph Bellows Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming solo exhibition, In Search of the Monkey Girl and other work, by Randal Levenson. The exhibition will open on September 9th and continue through October 13th, 2017. An opening reception will be held with the artist on Saturday, September 9th, from 6 - 8pm. This exhibition marks the artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition will feature photographs selected from three bodies of work: Americana, Mexico, and In Search of the Monkey Girl. The three distinct groupings range from the artist’s vintage black and white photographs from the 1970’s to large-scale color prints from this decade.

Come and view new studio and glass work, take a walk through her eclectic glass garden and be inspired. Have a sneak peek at her latest 7ft mosaic honeybee hive sculpture soon to be on exhibit.
