Event Description John Asaro, a San Diego based artist, known for his colorful works of the human body, will release his next exhibition titled “The Figure” at the Meyer Fine Art, Inc. gallery. The show will feature 40 to 50 pieces that have never been seen before including themes of ballet dancers, scenes from the Spartacus Ballet and a special Amy Winehouse collection. Asaro’s artwork has often been compared to the tradition of Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida and categorized as “romantic realism.” The show will be open to the public from Friday, November 10 through Saturday, December 30 with an opening reception on Saturday, November 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Asaro and view his artwork while enjoying refreshments, small bites and live entertainment. Event Description Sergott Contemporary Art proudly presents CHRONOS / KAIROS II: Recent Works by Shinpei Takeda, an exhibition bringing together works from several of Takeda’s projects, Alpha Decay (2010 – 2013), Beta Decay (2013~), Fobia (2017~), and Antimonument (2015~). Shinpei Takeda is a visual artist and filmmaker whose works involve a wide range of themes regarding memory and history. Born in Osaka, Japan, but based in Tijuana, Mexico and Düsseldorf, Germany, Takeda weaves his transcultural background into his art practice to translate and interpret stories across borders. Takeda is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, most recently the 2017 Best Cinematography Award at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and the 2016 San Diego Art Award. In 2000, he founded The AjA Project, a nonprofit that has been dedicated to empowering the resettled refugee youth community in San Diego through participatory photography.
