Event Description |
Ode to Frida includes Ms. Rubin’s watercolor portraits of Frida Khalo showing a fenced in connection with her difficult marriage. In another portrait Ms. Rubin depicts Frida as a Dia de los Muretes, not to be forgotten skeleton in a colorful folkloric dress with one of her favorite monkeys and an oversized paintbrush.

Event Description |
Cat Chiu Phillips creates installation work in public spaces often using traditional handicraft methods while encouraging collaborations within the community. By using various found materials, discarded items became an interest because of its contextual value. Inevitably this has inspired her to create installation and public art projects using various recycled products. |

Event Description |
The Athenaeum is honored to present renowned San Francisco–based botanical artist Tiffanie Turner for a talk and demonstration event on Friday evening, May 4. Guests will enjoy a lively presentation on the decisions involved in creating her book, “The Fine Art of Paper Flowers,” and will share her process in making her large-scale paper botanical sculptures, which are shown in museums and galleries across the US and abroad. Tiffanie will also demonstrate how to make a paper daffodil and will sign books at the end of the event. |
