Event Description Inspired by the work of Seena Frost (originator of Soulcollage) surrealist collage blends the intuitive choice of images with the careful construction of personal cards. This full day intensive is for those who have taken a Surrealist Collage or SoulCollage workshop already. In constructing these collages, we trust in the spontaneity of allowing magazine images to choose us, and then notice how these images can become interlaced with background images. The final collage invariably triggers memories, personal stories, or archetypal associations. If you have not experienced this process, you can book an individual hour with me to get “up to speed” and then register for the workshop. We will continue to create our “decks” to help guide our life choices.

Fee $250. Materials are provided and tools loaned. Bring found objects to incorporate and to use as a base for your sculpture (optional).
Reception Date 8-4-2018
Dates Starts On 8-4-2018   Ends On 8-12-2018
Opening Days Dates: August 4, 5, 11, 12, 2018
Event Description Two weekend workshop sculpting with air-dry clay and incorporating found objects in an air-conditioned studio (bring your swimsuit and towel for breaks!). A number of spaces are already taken. Air-dry clay does not require kiln firing, is light weight, and allows a more versatile design as any material e.g., wood, plastic, metal, paper, etc. can be incorporated and an internal wire armature allows the sculpture to be easily posed in any configuration and wired to various objects or hung. It can also be reworked once dry. I have a sculpture with air-dry clay at the San Diego Botanic Garden for 2018-2019 and I sold multiple air-dry clay sculptures at the last Sculptural Objects Functional Art and Design (SOFA) show in Chicago. Please email me for a Registration Form. Receipt of a completed Registration Form and payment check will reserve your place in the workshop. Workshop Instructions will then be emailed to you. This will be a fairly small group of students.

Opening Days Opening Reception Date: August 4th, 2018
Event Description Madison Gallery presents Kansas City based post abstract-expressionist artist Jane Booth and her series Narratives. Often creating monumentally scaled, color saturated canvases, her process is tactile and physical. Booth begins with large swaths of raw canvas on the floor. Engaging all of her senses, she accesses a nonverbal internal landscape, translating into a felt sense of color and mark. Paint is poured and pushed by hand into the canvas; the degrees of separation between feeling and fulfillment are narrow. This series narrates the physicality and experience of being human. The imagery is raw and initially unedited, accessing interior and exterior landscapes to begin, recorded with stick, brush, palms of hands, screwdrivers, pencil, crayon, spray paint, filled with an array of sensory and intellectual experiences.
