Event Description |
SME 149, Structural & Materials Engineering Bldg., UC San Diego /// Many PhD students are actively engaged in presenting their research to a wider world at conferences and symposia at other universities – but not their home institutions. The Graduate Research Colloquium is meant to overcome this atomization or privatization of intellectual work, in a forum where the excitement and energy of individual projects can become known inside the local community. Advisors will briefly introduce and provide their own reflections on the project, since the Advisor is in a unique position to see where the project lies in relation to the wider field, and to describe the contribution the project will make to the discipline as a whole. |

Event Description |
On February 28th 2020, from 10:30 A.M. to 4 P.M., True Colors: A Student Art Showcase will be available for public viewing at the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum’s Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Extension located at 328 J Street, San Diego, CA 92101. A collaboration between The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum (SDCHM) and the San Diego Chinese Art and Cultural Society (SDCACS), this student art showcase features a diverse range of 2D art created by 100 talented young artists (ages 5-17) from throughout San Diego County. The 100 students selected to be featured in this show are Jurors Choice and Honorable Mention awardees of SDCACS's annual student art competition, and the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum will be selecting an additional 10 participating artists for awards. SDCHM encourages all visitors to vote for their two favorite pieces for our Visitor's Choice Awards! Which artists really wear their True Colors on their sleeve? |
