R.B. Stevenson Gallery presents \"Italo Scanga: Treasures from the Estate\" The exhibition will open on Saturday, February 18th and will remain on view through March 31st, 2017. Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, February 18th, 5-8pm. This exhibition will include artworks Scanga created and treasured for himself as prime examples of his several most important oeuvres of assemblage, sculpture, and painting. These finished artworks have sat in the locked studio storage untouched since the artist\'s death in 2001. Only recently, the foundation and estate of the artist have finally decided to release for purchase a few of the remaining prime examples of the artist\'s artwork. Offered in the exhibit will be Scanga\'s last few remaining small scale iconic cubist/metaphysical style inspired painted bronze busts and painted wood assemblages still in the estate\'s possession. Also featured will be two large scale painted assemblages from Scanga\'s signature series of large scale works from the 1980s. |
