Event Description |
Cheryl Tall’s large, intricate ceramic pieces unite architectural and figurative imagery. Animals and edifices crown her symbolically adorned, life-sized forms - using windows as eyes and shingles as hair. Inspired by craft and folk art, Cheryl explores themes of domesticity, romance, and nostalgia, juxtaposing her affinity for objects of antiquity with references to modern popular culture. Using various glazing techniques, including terra sigillata, the artist produces unique dry, powdery surfaces that are richly complicated and show off the artist’s unique gestural style.
Cirque de Luna will be on display in the gallery’s annex space from October 11 until November 6.
