Event Description

Join us for Studio Arts, when OMA transforms into an artist’s studio, offering skill-building workshops led by distinguished arts educator Robin Douglas. Inspired by world renowned artists, you will explore different media, techniques and subjects found in an artist’s studio. After a brief slide presentation for inspiration and context the session will continue with demonstrations. Using Cezanne, Gauguin, and Van Gogh as inspiration, this workshop will study their transformational colors and compositions. Bold and fierce surfaces will be the purpose. Preliminary exercises will lead to individual paintings. This full day workshop held from 10:00am–2:00pm is meant to get you in the art making groove and develop new approaches to seeing and creating artworks. Whether you have a lifetime practice or are new to expressing yourself, we exchange ideas and techniques in a supportive and challenging environment.

Event Description

“Spring Awakening” Escondido Art Association announces a Juried Exhibit at the No. Island Credit Union, 1230 Auto Parkway, Escondido, Ca. 92029. Entry Deadline is Feb. 11th. Take-in of art will be Feb. 28, 11-4pm. The show opens Mar. 5th and runs through May 30th. Up to 3 entries of 2D & 3D art per artist are accepted with a Max size of 48” on any side for 2D art (including frame). Entry fees for non-members are $30 for the 1st entry & $5 each for 2nd & 3rd. Members receive a reduced rate of $20 for the 1st entry. Submissions can be made on the association website https://escoarts.com under the link, Call for Art, NICU. The winning entries will be critiqued by the judge and the comments posted on the association website for public viewing. All are welcome to come, mingle and view “Spring Awakening” with the artists at the opening reception Thursday, Mar. 5th, from 3-5pm. Cash awards will be announced at the reception.
