Event Description Join Space 4 Art’s resident artist Alaric López for an Intermedia Poetry Recital from 6:00-8:00 pm on August 5. Alaric (he/they), a poet, musician, intermedia artist, and literary translator, will present an excerpt from their MFA thesis project (tentatively titled Where Was I?). Employing a new form of poetics that Alaric has been developing called “action/active writing”, Where Was I? searches for meaning in primary colors, examining a range of subjects (color theory, abstract painting, photos from Alaric’s personal archive, as well as black holes and astronomical phenomena, among others) to explore questions of how meaning is made and how we locate our place in the universe. Poetry, performance, video, mixed “non-art” materials, and implied sound work in Where Was I? toward a kind of filmed (but readable, and interactive via digital video playback controls) performance of the poem’s physical writing in action. Please check S4A’s “Events” webpage for parking details or other announcements about this event.
