Event Description |
Experience San Diego Art Institute’s exhibition Illumination: 21st Century Interactions with Art + Science + Technology, exploring contemporary issues and solutions to climate change, sustainability, global health, and the impact of technology through the work of twenty-six artists. The exhibition highlights groundbreaking work of San Diego’s art, science, and technology communities utilizing the arts to humanize, interpret, and add relevance to challenging research.
Sixteen of the twenty-six artists collaborated with scientists and technologists from seven major research institutions: La Jolla Institute of Immunology, Qualcomm Institute/CalIT2, Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, The Scripps Research Institute, and UCSD. The artists spun research into art through mediums that range from light, sound, and metal installations to soundscape, textile, and even trees.
