Event Description Staying Power, on display in the University Art Gallery from February 3 – April 11, 2026, will showcase the past, present, and future of the School of Art and Design’s craft legacy, with a special focus on work from the Southern California region. The exhibition is curated by Barbara Paris Gifford, Senior Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York. Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026 is a nationwide Semiquincentennial initiative to showcase the importance of the handmade both throughout our history and in contemporary life. The SDSU School of Art and Design is proud to be a part of Handwork 2026 by presenting a curated exhibition of outstanding craftwork by emeritus faculty, current faculty, and selected distinguished alumni from our Applied Design areas.
