Event Description |
Clay Walker (1924 - 2008) is a master of diverse art media (oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculptures), but in printmaking (woodcuts, linocuts, etchings, serigraphs and mixed media) he found his niche in the contemporary art world. Clay Walker was born in Kentucky. From Ohio, to Texas, to California, Orange County, then Escondido for forty years, until his passing - his art career flourished. Walker’s passion was creating his artworks, with teaching art as a secondary focus. His concern was not for commercial success but to retain his integrity as an artist. Walker’s work has been displayed minimally since the late 1960s. In 2009, Meyer Fine Art, Inc. had the first solo exhibition for Walker in 40 years. The gallery has continued to display Clay Walker’s art in solo or group shows. The bottom line is that Mid-Modern art and design are still popular because they are timeless. Clay Walker epitomizes the Mid-Modern artist. |
