Join Instructor Ginna Brooks for a very special afternoon creating a beautiful box to store all your treasures. The secret to the intricately sculpted wooden box is the clever techniques Ginna has devised and perfected to transform the box�s flat surfaces into art! You�ll have the opportunity choose from two designs: a faux-ivory carving (reminiscent of ancient temples) or faux-turquoise (with ocean floor �artifacts�). Ginna will also let you in on her secrets to achieve an antique patina for your box.

Event Description

R.B. Stevenson Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition "Small Scale" featuring paintings by San Diego artist Wayne Hulgin and Sculpture by San Diego artist Jeff Irwin. The exhibition opens with a reception for the artists Saturday August 19, from 5 to 8 pm. and will remain on view through September 16, 2023. Gallery will be open at 1pm for early viewing. Wayne Hulgin artwork involves bold, vivid hues that harmonize and dance in geometric shapes. Through vibrant colors and rigid bodies, my work emanates energy and joyfulness. Each color and shape are purposefully placed, creating a visual language that hopefully engages the viewer. Focusing on clean, sharp-edged precision, I strive to elicit a visceral response to explore the intricate relationship between color, shape, and design. Through this fusion, I seek to convey a message, sparking emotions and engaging the senses in a captivating visual experience.
