Event Description Clothes Story, envisioned and curated by Atlanta based designer Kenneth Green. This exhibition celebrates the lives and contributions of African American women by carefully replicating over thirty garments and fashion accessories that represent what women wore in historical periods ranging from 1890 to 1963. Every dress, coat or cloak in Clothes Story has a unique story to tell, whether revealing details about the maker, providing information about the historical context or teaching us about the person who wore it. Through fashion, the narratives shared in this exhibition come alive. The exhibit is on view August 25 - October 16, 2025. The engaging display takes the viewer on a journey through time, inviting them to experience women’s lives at home and in their communities and capturing historical moments that showcase the African American female experience and acknowledge their resilience, strength, bravery, courage, and unapologetic spirit for change. With appreciation to The Hervey Family Fund at the San Diego Foundation.

Event Description Why settle for a boring wastebasket when you can weave your own work of art? In this fun workshop with Marsha Orr, you’ll create a beautiful woven basket that’s just the right size for holding… well, anything you like! Sure, it makes a lovely wastebasket, but it’s equally perfect for storing yarn, magazines, rolled towels, or that ever-growing stack of “important papers.” You’ll learn a variety of basketry techniques, including working with a slotted base, twining, over-under interrupted weave, twill weave, and lashing on a rim. Choose colors to match your décor or keep it natural for staining later. Finished baskets measure about 10” x 5” at the base and 10” high — roomy enough to be useful, stylish enough to display.
