Event Description |
This course is designed to introduce students to the beautiful art of botanical subjects using a combination of pencils, pen-and-ink techniques, and watercolor. We will look at details and work with things like flowers, fruits, seed pods, etc., and have fun with drawing techniques such as crosshatch and using a nib. Students will explore the expressive qualities of different pencils, as well as the translucent and vibrant effects achievable with watercolor. All are welcome to attend, but some drawing skills would be helpful. Please bring materials to the first class.
Materials: Basic drawing materials: B-range pencils; small pencil sharpener; kneaded and vinyl erasers; blending tool; small sketch pad; Micron or any black-pigment liner pen set with various tip points. Be sure to bring these materials to the first class. Basic watercolor materials: #140 hot-press and cold-press, all-cotton 9 x 12” watercolor paper (or simply bring what you have at home) |
