Event Description |
Artists’ books’ potential, mystery, and enjoyment are enhanced by interactive pockets and layers. These structures are ideal for content that explores memory, family, personal history, travel, and inner thoughts and feelings. Students will create books with pockets, including a collaborative project with some page-trading among students, and a book with hidden pages, among others. Some books will be blank prototypes; others will include content.
All levels welcome—from the novice to those with bookmaking experience.
Materials: Cutting knife and extra blades; metal ruler; sharp pencils; eraser (Pink Pearl is good); bone folder; glue (UHU glue stick or a small container of PVA & brush). Recommended: 2” x 12” C-Thru (brand-name) plastic centering ruler; stylus (for scoring); bench hook. Additional materials will be provided to create most of the structures. There will be a $10 materials fee paid to the instructor at the first-class meeting.
