Event Description Joel Slayton is a pioneering artists, researcher, and curator with over 35 years of experience involving art and technology. His work engages a wide range of practice including media, installation and performance and has been featured in over 200 exhibitions around the world. Joel is Professor Emeritus at San Jose State University where he was Founding Director of the CADRE Laboratory for New Media (1984). Joel Slayton will be discussing the evolution and influences of the CADRE Laboratory for New Media at San Jose State University. CADRE is an Organized Research Unit of the university enabling faculty and students to experiment with digital media and culture. Joel will also share some of his professional activities shaped by the CADRE experience including that of C5 Corporation, ZERO1, and his new initiative, The L&J Ranch, exploring land-use as it relates to sense-of-place.
