Event Description YOUR FAVORITE COLOR (2022) One of the interesting concepts of Murals of La Jolla is that the murals are temporary; they have a lifespan and are replaced every two to six years. But we just couldn’t do it to Roy McMakin’s Favorite Color (2010). With its cheerful, graphic simplicity and deceptively poignant humanity, the mural has become a beloved landmark and we invited the artist to create another version for the same wall. The exciting aspect of doing this project again is that while it will look similar to the first version, it will be completely different as the color choices will all be new. We are hoping some of the people who chose colors in 2010 are able to choose them for the new version. We are excited to imagine children selectors in 2010 will make their grown-up selection in 2022, whether it’s the same or totally different. And of course we welcome anyone and everyone who wants to share and have their favorite color memorialized on the wall to participate.
