Join us for the ICA summer art camp exhibition!! Celebrating another successful Summer Camp season on August 20th from 10 am to 1 pm, we are welcoming all campers, parents, grandparents, and members of the community to join us for our End of Summer Camp Celebration at ICA San Diego located in Encinitas. Each summer, ICA San Diego hosts six weeks of camps offering different art experiences based on current art trends. Students experiment with a range of materials, learn techniques, meet new friends, and leave each day with lifelong memories. The summer concludes with the year’s largest show, with over 400 works of art created by our campers professionally installed in both the Artist Pavilion and the Education Pavilion galleries. Janet Perkin’s abstract mixed media artwork is exciting and eclectic, with vibrant color and strong messages. Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Andre Derain and Gustav Klimt are artists who have influenced Janet’s style. Tasteful flouting of color and form is an important feature of Janet’s work. Using acrylic paint and collage, Janet weaves a story to connect with the viewer. Event Description

Ashton Gallery at Art on 30th proudly presents “"Our Collective American Memory" Art Opening and Exhibition. The show is an adaptation of the Smithsonian’s widely acclaimed book, The History of America in 101 Objects, written by Dr. Richard Kurin, Smithsonian Distinguished Scholar and Ambassador-at-Large. The show will feature a collection of unmistakably nostalgic American images including Julia Child’s kitchen, Abraham Lincoln’s stovepipe hat, Dorothy’s slippers and of course, the American flag, all created by Ashton’s Gallery’s Resident Professional artists. The show was juriored Karen Milbourne, Senior Curator Smithsonian Museum of African Art. Opening reception: Saturday, August 20th 4pm-8pm.
