Let your imagination bloom by creating a very special book with Instructor Helen Shafer Garcia! Your Into the Garden Book will utilize techniques of Eco Dyeing, intuitive ink, acrylic and watercolor painting techniques, and collage! Your journey begins by creating pages with Eco-Dyeing, a process where natural dyes from plants are transferred to paper via steaming or boiling. The afternoon will be spent assembling your book cover with vellum and tissue layers over wood shapes and paint with inks to develop botanical motifs. The second session will focus on the book structure arrangement and stitching, complete with metal adornments. You’ll have a special translucent page to develop with color pencils and ink. Book construction will be explored using a long stitch with ribbon attachments open spine technique. Helen will bring a brilliant array of sari ribbons for the binding. |
