|Susan Lazear, the curator of the exhibit will provide a guided tour of the Reimagined Kimono fashion exhibit, sharing the techniques and processes used by each team of designer and stitcher. If you or members of your guild would be interested in attending the tour, please RSVP to Susan.
Kimono Reimagined is a collaborative project between Visions Museum of Textile Art and San Diego Mesa College Fashion Program.
Nineteen teams, each composed of a Mesa College fashion student and a stitcher from Visions worked together to redesign and reconstruct kimonos, obis, haoris, and sashes to become a fashion garment. Each ensemble contains some element of embellishment created by the stitcher using hand or machine techniques.
