Event Description

St.Louis artist Wiliam Lachance is back this winter for his 2nd solo exhibition after a sell-out show with Madison Gallery in 2021. William embraces the collision of unlike parts to create hybrid experiences and kaleidoscopic color spectrums. In this new body of work as the title suggests, TIMESHARE expands on the theme of painting’s ability to provide a form of escapism for the artist and viewer alike. The paintings imply but do not comply with traditional motifs of landscape, figuration and pure abstraction- instead they are reimagined and cobbled together using colors and forms more akin to advertising, souvenirs, decorative murals, t-shirt shops and arcades; the visual language of travel. In deploying these vernacular signals, these works present a kind of reverse approach to painting that one could fittingly associate with pop art, but with the formal traits of light and space they simultaneously participate in a formal, classical dialogue.

Event Description

"Inspired by the works of the ancient artisans, religious manuscripts, and modern masters, Duke will guide the student through a two-day exploration of the history, tools, and many facets of applying gold, silver, and copper leaf on simple and complex projects, sculptural, experimental, and more. The student will take away from this workshop the basics of water-based gilding techniques and will be able to utilize this medium for various personal creative projects. This workshop will be two six-hour sessions and will help each participant open up to a new element of artistic creation. Breaks will be provided. It is also encouraged for the students to bring their lunch. Microwave is available.

Event Description

Join Instructor Christine Head and learn how to create a one-of-a-kind fused glass dish. Christine has perfected the technique of using glass stringers which are thin threads of glass to create intricately fluid line patterns. Everything is provided for you to design and make one truly unique 8” square plate. After the plate comes out of the kiln, it’s put on a mold and sent back into the kiln for a second firing called “slumping” which transforms the plate into a curved dish. Use your dish all year long or gift to someone special. Previous fused glass experience reccomended.
