Saturday, April 1, 2023 9:00 am - 5:00 pm // This writing workshop is designed to revitalize our creativity by opening us to the wisdom and teachings of the natural world. Remembering our place in Nature is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. With our offering of attention, Mother Nature reciprocates with her own beautiful language that will most certainly find its way into our own writing. We will spend time writing and reading in community. To encourage imagination and play, there will be guided meditations, visualizations, curated readings, and writing prompts. We will discuss, share and hold space for what arises. You may write in whatever form pleases you including journaling, poetry, prose, memoir, novel, and non-fiction. This workshop is intended for all levels of writers. Bring your lunch, water bottle and your journal. Breakfast will be provided. Part & Parcel - Oceanside Public Library - 4/1/23 to 6/23/23 | Opening Reception and artist talk: Civic Center Branch 4/8/23 at 5:30pm This solo exhibition of oil paintings is a reverent meditation on the disappearing spaces in DeLuca's home, Oceanside, CA. Originally in response to increasing gentrification in the region, these paintings have developed into an investigation of personal feelings around home, impermanence, and remembrance. An urgency to preserve that which is being lost, while paying homage to the spirits of Oceanside that fade into homogeneity, is the driving force behind this work. This exhibition is the culmination of a three-year artistic project that was intended to be shown in the community it honors. As a realization of this vision, DeLuca has chosen to show the work in its entirety at the social center of the city - the library.

Event Description

Last chance to check out the solo art exhibition by Bob Rob Medina. Presented by Voz Alta. Live music performed by poet Matt Maudlin and Bob Rob Medina from their former band, Chocolate Kiss. About the exhibition: Punk Rock Bedroom is an art installation piece that features a collection of fifty new ink drawings that center on the use of lines and color to transcribe and express music in a visual format. The setting replicates a typical punk rocker’s bedroom from the early eighties. In addition to furniture, the space will also include ephemera from that era, such as flyers, music, clothing, and essays. The first-person narratives reflect the influence of friends, family, bands, films, and personalities within the music scene that helped shape my teenage experience.

The Carlsbad Oceanside Art League is pleased to announce a call for art for its upcoming youth art exhibition, “Inspire”. It is the 27th annual youth art exhibition, and will be showcasing the talents and creativity of young artists from the San Diego County area. The exhibition, titled "Inspire," will feature a variety of artwork, including paintings, drawings, and mixed media pieces, all created by talented young artists aged 8-18. The "Inspire" exhibition represents one of the organization missions to encourage and support the creative expression of young artists in our community. The exhibition is a testament to the incredible talent and dedication of these young artists, who have poured their hearts and souls into their work.

Event Description

ArtReach is hosting a Charity Art Auction to support free visual arts education for youth at San Diego County schools and community centers. Electra Bicycle Company, a San Diego-based company and the leading lifestyle bicycle brand in the U.S., has generously donated a collection of cruiser bikes and bike accessories to be designed by local artists. Ten bicycles and 60+ accessories are available through an online auction from April 1st through April 30th, 2023. All auction items will be displayed at Mission Fed ArtWalk in the Piazza della Famiglia April 29th & 30th. Proceeds from the auction directly benefit ArtReach’s programs for young people that do not otherwise have access to visual arts opportunities.
