Event Description

This is a unique opportunity to study with two accomplished and warmhearted artist-educators in the same course. Ken and Stephanie are both well known for their ability to help each person find their own unique drawing abilities. For the first three weeks, Stephanie will introduce you to well-founded drawing techniques by working from carefully selected high-quality past and present master portraits and figures. Beginners are encouraged to start out with pencil or charcoal, while those with more experience may work in other mediums of their choosing. During the last three weeks, Ken will introduce color theory to portraits and figures using watercolor. But you can use any medium of your choice, as Ken also works in oils, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils, etc., and the same color concepts apply to all mediums. All levels are welcome because instruction and demonstrations are given on an individual and group basis.

Squeegee, emulsion, scoop coater, blanks, and more will soon be part of your vocabulary as you learn to burn a screen and prep it for printing on paper and fabric. Each class will build on the process as you learn the art of screen printing- and the importance of a good studio hygiene to keep the ink where you want it and not on everything else! In this class you will be working with foraged materials, driftwood to seedpods, crystals, feathers, wire and clay. You should enjoy working with natural materials and your hands for this class! Allow the process to unfold as we learn together to be creative in non-ordinary ways. This class is available for ALL LEVELS from beginner to advanced. You will create a sculpture series to photograph and take-home. A $35 materials fee is due to the instructor at the first class. What is supplied: all foraged materials, tools, glue, clay and wire.
