Event Description At once comic, contemplative and expressive of the human condition, Ernest Silva’s body of work reflects his interest in using multiple-narratives to explore personal and universal images. Recognized for his metaphoric imagery of deer, lighthouses, water, birds and figures, Silva will present an engaging conversation between his earlier and more recent work occupying two exhibition galleries. Join us for an illustrated lecture with Ernest Silva on Saturday, May 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Complimentary for OMA members and free with general admission. The Exhibition Reception in conjunction with the opening of three exhibitions including: Looking for Things: Jay Johnson, Charles Arnoldi and Tony DeLap: Selections from 60 Years, will take place on Saturday, June 29, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The reception is complimentary for OMA Members and $10 for Nonmembers.

Event Description The diversity of Jay Johnson’s chosen media is paralleled in his constant exploration of new modes of expression that reflect his dry humor and inventive nature. Working in a wide variety of sculptural media including found and reclaimed objects, wood, metal, clay and paper, each of Johnson’s works hint at satirical short stores derived from his imagination and the world around him. This exhibition presents recent work along with a sampling of seminal pieces from his oeuvre. Join us for a mega-reception on June 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that celebrates the opening of four exhibitions: Looking for Things: Jay Johnson, Volcanos and Full Moons: Ernest Silva, Charles Arnoldi, and Tony DeLap: Selections from 60 Years. The reception is free for members and $10 for nonmembers and includes an open bar and creative appetizers provided by OMA’s Culinary Arts Committee.

Event Description The historic Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego hosts its annual Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, May 25. The street scene will be filled with beautiful music and art that entertains. Californian artist Bob Elias has delighted collectors around the country with his brightly colored interpretations of classic moments from the Chuck Jones canon. Elias will be working on a canvas during the reception and you will be invited to 'help' him paint it!
