Event Description This exhibition will explore art that has emerged from the surf-culture lifestyle and surfing’s influence on artists. Everyone who has experienced the feeling of riding a wave understands just how hard it is to describe that incredible sensation, referred to as “stoke”. It seems that only through creative self-expression can surfer-artists capture the essence of stoke and the inspiration that can be found between the surfer and the wave. Artists who surf may take this creative energy in many directions and may explore subjects outside of surfing and surf culture. This joint exhibition will feature a variety of media, from traditional art making methods to works in resin, murals, surfboards, graphic art, sculpture, or fabric, all with the goal to convey the creative power that all artists experience, on or off the wave.

Event Description Join us at the Fallbrook School of the Arts for an inspiring evening with Kazuki Takizawa, a Los Angeles–based glass artist internationally known for using glass as a platform to explore and destigmatize mental health. Kazuki will speak about how his personal experiences with bipolar disorder inform his artwork—powerful vessels and installations that give form to emotion, healing, and human connection. Following the talk, Kazuki will present a live glassblowing demonstration, where you'll see his expressive process unfold in real time. During the demo, the piece Kazuki creates will be auctioned live, giving one lucky attendee the chance to take home an original work made on site. Plus, all guests will have the chance to participate in an opportunity drawing for a private one-hour hot shop lesson with a member of the Fallbrook School of the Arts glass team.
