Event Description

Families will learn about Día de los Muertos, a celebration of life and a way to honor loved ones who have passed. Together, we’ll create Corazones de Milagritos and other traditional symbols by engraving designs into tin sheets and then decorating them with bright colors, pom poms, and festive details. In this fun “leave one, keep one” workshop, participants will add a design to our community ofrenda and take one home as a special keepsake. Kids ages 2 and under are free!

Event Description

Step into the mysterious and the unknown at 'The Veil Between', a group exhibition exploring the thinning of the veil between worlds—life and death, dreams and reality. Opening on October 11th from 6–10 PM at Distinction Gallery in Escondido, this event features original paintings, photography, drawings, and mixed media by visual artists from around the globe. Distinction Gallery has been a beacon for contemporary art in Southern California for more than twenty years. The opening reception will include live music, artists in attendance, and drinks available for purchase (21+) from Last Spot Bar. Enjoy live music beginning at 5 p.m. Seating opens at 4:30 p.m. and is limited, so please feel free to bring your own chair. Performances take place outdoors, weather permitting. Cannon Art Gallery and Chapters Cafe will also be open so you can enjoy an early evening full of culture with friends. Grammy Nominee, Blues Music Award Winner and author, Mark Hummel, has fascinated audiences across the Unites States and Europe with his own trademark harmonica sound - a subtle combination of tone, phrasing and attack combined with a strong sense of swing.
