| Event Description |
Join Timken Director Dr. John Wilson and fellow Friends of the Timken to see three acclaimed exhibitions: Leonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture: Inspiration and Invention at the J. Paul Getty Museum, and, at LACMA, American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765-1915 and Renoir
in the 20th Century. Leonardo's ambitious drawings for huge equestrian
sculpture projects are the focus of Leonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture. The master's original drawings are exhibited side by side with important sculptures by artists who inspired Leonardo, some never seen outside of Italy. At LACMA, American Stories surveys some of the finest American genre subjects—scenes of family life and courting, work and leisure, comic mishaps and disasters—by many of the most familiar names in American art. Renoir in the 20th Century examines the artist’s most fertile period with some of the most iconic images created by this legend of Impressionism. While at LACMA, you will also have the opportunity to see the re-installed Dutch and Spanish galleries. |
