Event Description The San Dieguito Art Guild is offering their annual Mother’s Day Weekend Artist Studio and Garden Tour. The tour will feature eight Guild members’ homes, gardens and art studios. Saturday and Sunday, May 8th and 9th, 2010. The Off Track Gallery will open at 8:30 for ticket sales and the homes will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This is a self guided tour of garden/studios. Tickets are $20.00. Tickets will be sold at the Off Track Gallery (937 So. Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, Suite C103, behind St. Tropez) and also on-line on the Guild website: OffTrackGallery.com. starting April 1, 2010. Each home will feature several artists and will offer refreshments. Some homes will also have entertainment. All of the studio homes are in the North San Diego coastal area so as to be easily accessible in a day. This is a home/garden tour but with a real plus. Not only are the homes interesting and the gardens tended and lush, but most are homes of a working artist. All of the art on display will be for sale at prices directly from the artist to you and will include paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture, glass, textiles and jewelry. The art offered on this tour is all made by local artists. You won’t find anything mass produced or imported. What do moms want most from their children? Time. This is a perfect way to spend a day with mom. Most homes will have food so you can skip the crowded restaurants this year and just eat your way through the tour. Tickets are good for both days and you are welcome to re-visit a favorite home. The San Dieguito Art Guild has been a community organization since 1965. The Guild is a showcase for a wide variety of artists of all levels and mediums. This tour has been a great success for over 13 years and is a wonderful way for families to spend Mother’s Day. A portion of the proceeds from this tour will be donated to a local school’s art department.

Event Description New Works by Jack Stricker and Anthony Santos Jack Stricker was born in San Diego in 1987. He became interested in art at an early age but not seriously until high school. He was first attracted to the murals and graffiti pieces throughout Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach, which fueled the flame for his creativity. Jack graduated high school in 2005 and started at SDSU to study studio arts, specifically painting. Utilizing a range of mediums and style combinations, he paints multi-layered, mixtured environments. His influences include classical renaissance paintings, japanese prints, art nouveau, and graffiti. Themes throughout his work deal with contradiction, beauty, wildlife, and the figure. His paintings have been hung in galleries and bars throughout San Diego and he will graduate from SDSU in May of 2010 with a degree in painting and printmaking. Anthony Santos started painting at 4 years old. He has always been drawn to art, whether it was picking up a pencil and blank paper or filling a street with chalk. Anthony was first introduced to the graffiti style art in the 4th grade while living in Sacramento, California, and by the time he was in the 5th grade, was a well-known artist in his hometown. It was in 1998, while Anthony was in the 7th grade, that he brought his art style to the canvas. He scheduled his first art show in 2002 where the audience marveled at his unique style combining acrylic paint with spray paint, incorporating his graffiti culture to fine art. Since then, it has been nothing but progression for Anthony as he has participated in numerous art shows, became an established artist in Broker's Building Gallery in the heart of Downtown, San Diego, Performs live art at various events in San Diego and Los Angeles, and currently serves on the Broker's Building Gallery Board of Directors.
