Event Description In collaboration with the 16th Little Italy Festa, is Sunday, October 10, 2101, Meyer Fine Art presents its third annual exhibition of Vintage Italian Posters featuring original first and second printings of lithographs by prominent poster artists including Cappiello, Mauzan, Boccaslle, etc. The exhibition will be available for viewing beginning Friday, September 10, 2010 – October 30, 2010. The opening reception for this popular exhibition is Friday, September 10, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., in conjunction with a special Kettner Night presented by galleries and artists of the Art and Design District of Little Italy North. Perry L. Meyer has been a private art dealer for 30 years, specializing in original graphics, limited edition prints, and other works on paper from the 18th century to contemporary works. With a keen eye and knowledge that he has acquired through his life-long love and passion for graphics and works on paper, Perry Meyer opened a public gallery space in June 2006, located in the booming Art & Design District in Little Italy in the historical Studio Arts Building on Kettner Blvd. This exhibition, the largest collection of rare Vintage Italian Posters on the west coast, will consist of original first and second printings of lithographs by prominent poster artists including Cappiello, Mauzan, Boccasile, etc. For centuries posters have been utilized as a form of advertising to the masses, combining words and colorful graphics to create a message, an eye-catching form of street art. The posters were intended to only be used for a short period of time. The images were so attractive that many of the lithographs were quickly stolen, necessitating publishers to generate additional printings. Also, due to the nature of the paper they were printed on very few survived. Those that survived in good condition have today become valuable collectibles. Prices are based on rarity, condition and demand. Italian posters date back to the late 1800’s, popularized by Leonetto Cappiello, known as the father of modern advertising. This poster collection spans the 20th to 21st centuries. The prominent poster themes of beverages, food, travel and sports are all included in this exhibition. Meyer Fine Art offers original graphics, limited edition prints, and other works on paper, specializing in 18th - 20th century artists. The gallery provides full art consulting services for purchasing and selling artwork, including framing, shipping, appraisals, and restoration. With over 30 years of experience, owner Perry Meyer offers his expert consultation services to assist novice and seasoned collectors who have an interest in original graphics. His reputation is based on integrity, professionalism, and extensive knowledge to provide his clients with the assurance and confidence needed to build a world-class art collection.
